Kilomeni is a village in Mwanga District, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania and is situated in the Pare Mountains. Mwanga is one of the six districts of the Kilimanjaro Region of Tanzania. Kilimanjaro is one of the 26 regions in Tanzania. The capital of the region is Moshi. Tanzania ˌtænzəˈniːə officially the United Republic of Tanzania (Jamhuri ya Muungano wa Tanzania is a country in East Africa bordered by Kenya The Pare Mountains are a Mountain range in north eastern Tanzania, north west of the Usambara Mountains. Kilomeni is home to a Roman Catholic parish, a secondary school, and a primary school. Population was 2,443 as of the 2002 census. [1]
Economy
The economy of Kilomeni and the surrounding area is based on subsistence farming; coffee, bananas, and maize are the main crops. Subsistence agriculture is self-sufficient farming in which farmers grow only enough food to feed the family and to pay taxes or feudal dues [1]
