Early life

Hubbs was born in Riverside, California and resided in nearby Colton, California. Riverside is the County seat of Riverside County, California, United States. Colton is a city in San Bernardino County, California, United States.

He played in the 1954 Little League World Series. The Little League World Series is a Baseball Tournament for children aged 11 12 and 13 years old [4] Colton represented California. They beat Virginia in the first round and Illinois in the second. In the final game of the Series, Schenectady, New York beat California 5-3. Hubbs had a fear of flying, which he decided to overcome by taking flying lessons.
