He died in a car accident, driving 90 miles per hour the wrong direction while being chased by the police through Herkimer, New York, and hit an empty tanker truck head-on. Herkimer is a Village in Herkimer County New York, about southeast of Utica. He was 36 years old. [1]
A post-mortem autopsy revealed that he had suffered from brain damage, likely due to his years of playing football. [2]
