Juan Serrano was a sixteenth century navigator who sailed with Ferdinand Magellan during the first circumnavigation of the world (1517-1519). A navigator is the person onboard a ship or aircraft responsible for its Navigation. Ferdinand Magellan (Fernão de Magalhães fɨɾˈnɐ̃ũ dɨ mɐgɐˈʎɐ̃ĩʃ Fernando de Magallanes (Spring 1480 &ndash April 27 1521 Mactan Island, Cebu Of Portuguese origin, Serrano was brother or cousin to Francisco Serrão, who was residing in the Spice Islands when the voyage began and whom Magellan hoped to meet (both died before this occurred). Francisco Serrão ( Francisco Serrano) (died 1521 was a Portuguese explorer, and a cousin or personal friend of Ferdinand Magellan.
