John Imbrie (born July 4, 1925) is an American Paleoceanographer. Events 836 - Pactum Sicardi, peace between the Principality of Benevento and the Duchy of Naples Year 1925 ( MCMXXV) was a Common year starting on Thursday (link will display the full calendar of the Gregorian calendar. Paleoceanography is the study of the history of the Oceans in the geologic past with regard to circulation Chemistry, Biology, geology and patterns

Imbrie received a Ph. D. from Yale University in 1951. He was the recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship in 1981. The MacArthur Fellows Program or MacArthur Fellowship (sometimes Nicknamed the "genius grant") is an award given by the John D He was awarded the William H. Twenhofel Medal by the Society for Sedimentary Geology in 1991. The William H Twenhofel Medal is the highest award given by the Society for Sedimentary Geology (SEPM The Society for Sedimentary Geology is an international not-for-profit scientific society based in Tulsa Oklahoma. Imbrie has been on the faculty of the Geological Sciences Department at Brown University since 1977[1], where he has held the Henry L. Brown University is a highly esteemed private University located in Providence, Rhode Island and is a member of the Ivy League. Doherty chair of Oceanography. Oceanography (from the greek words Ωκεανός meaning Ocean and γράφω meaning to write also called oceanology or He now serves as Professor Emeritus at Brown. The meaning of the word professor ( Latin: professor, person who professes to be an expert in some art or science teacher of highest rank) varies [2]

Imbrie is probably best known as a co-author of the "Hays, Imbrie and Shackleton" paper in Science[3] in 1976, 'Variations in the Earth's orbit: Pacemaker of the ice ages'. James D Hays is a professor of Earth and environmental sciences at Columbia University 's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Sir Nicholas John Shackleton FRS ( 23 June 1937 — 24 January 2006) was a British Geologist and Climatologist Science is the Academic journal of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and is considered one of the world's most prestigious Scientific Using ocean sediment cores, the Science paper verified the theories of Milutin Milanković that oscillations in climate over the past few million years could be correlated with Earth's orbital variations of eccentricity, axial tilt, and precession around the Sun (see Milankovitch cycles). Milutin Milanković ( Serbian Cyrillic: Милутин Миланковић ( May 28, 1879, Dalj, West Syrmia region near In Astrodynamics, under standard assumptions, any Orbit must be of Conic section shape In Astronomy, axial tilt is the Inclination angle of a planet's rotational axis in relation to its orbital plane. Precession refers to a change in the direction of the axis of a rotating object Milankovitch cycles are the collective effect of changes in the Earth 's movements upon its climate named after Serbian civil engineer and Mathematician
