Garner started his career at Blackburn Rovers and playing as a striker played in the same position as his namesake Simon Garner, Blackburn's highest-ever goalscorer and club legend during the 1980's and early 90's. Blackburn Rovers Football Club is an English Premier League football club based in the town of Blackburn, Lancashire. Simon Garner (born November 23, 1959 in Boston Lincolnshire) is an English former professional footballer. Contrary to some stories, the two are not related. He played for the youth and reserve teams at Ewood Park. On January 19, 2007, Garner joined Carlisle United on loan until the end of the 2006-07 season. Carlisle United FC are an English football team based in Carlisle, Cumbria, play in the Football League One this season after gaining [1] Garner scored his first ever league goal for Carlisle United at Brunton Park on the 10th February 2006. On August 10, 2007, Garner joined Carlisle United for a club record fee of £140,000, which could rise to £150,000 if United gain promotion to The Championship. England
Garner is an England U19 International. He has never played at U21 level but he still hopes to. Now that he is playing in the third tier of english football the future looks bleak for him regarding full english honours.
