Jelveti is the name of a Sufi order that was founded by the Turkish saint Aziz Mahmud Hudayi. Sufism ( تصوّف - taṣawwuf, Persian: صوفیگری sufigari, Turkish: tasavvuf, Urdu: تصوف The Ottoman Turks were the subdivision of the Ottoman Muslim Millet that dominated the ruling class of the Ottoman Empire.
It shares the same spiritual chain as the Khalwati order and thus there are many similarities between them. The Khalwati Sufi order (or Halveti, as it is known in Turkey) is an Islamic Sufi brotherhood ( Tariqa) The two orders split however with Sheikh Zahed Gilani, where the Jelveti order then goes on to Hajji Bayram and Aziz Mahmud Hudayi.
