Bio
He spent his early childhood in Crowborough in Sussex before moving to Huddersfield where he experienced the bleak realities of the post-industrial north, which have been such an influence on his lyrical style. Crowborough is a town in the Wealden district of East Sussex, England. Sussex is a historic county in South East England corresponding roughly in area to the ancient Kingdom of Sussex. His debut release was the Premonitions EP YNR Records, which he co-founded. Premonitions EP was British hip hop artist Jehst 's debut release The release of four 12" records on Low Life Records. Low Life Records was an Independent record label promoting UK hip hop music The last of these 12"s in June 2002 titled The Return of the Drifter, was a double release with an accompanying 11-track CD of the same name. Return of the Drifter was Jehst 's first full-length LP. The album was produced by Jehst except for "Alcoholic Author" and "Staircase to The Return of the Drifter CD was essentially a collection of previously released tracks and is a cross-section of Jehst's work up to that point.
Jehst has also released material under the name Billy Brimstone on his own YNR label. He has also released numerous singles and collaborations with other artists, including Cosmic Gypsies with Taskforce and Braintax, which includes material to be later scratched into his work.
