Early life
Jayne Atkinson was born in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. Bournemouth ( is a large coastal resort town in the Borough of Bournemouth in Dorset, England. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK or Britain,is a Sovereign state located Although Ms. Atkinson was born in England, her family relocated to the United States when she was 9. Atkinson attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois where she graduated with a BA in Communications in 1981. She then attended Yale Drama School in New Haven, Connecticut.
Career
Ms. Atkinson launched her professional acting career by appearing in a Broadway production of All My Sons in 1987. All My Sons is a 1947 play by Arthur Miller. The play was twice adapted for film in 1948 and again in 1986 Subsequently, she landed title roles in more stage productions, which include Henry VIII, Tru, and The Art of Success. Henry VIII (28 June 1491 &ndash 28 January 1547 was King of England and Lord of Ireland, later King of Ireland and claimant to the Kingdom of Atkinson received a Drama Desk Award for Best Actress in a Play for her performance in The Striker in 1996. She is married to actor Michel Gill, with whom she has one son, Jeremy. Aktinson met her actor husband Michel Gill when they appeared together in a 1989 production of The Heiress at New Haven's Long Wharf Theater in Connecticut. The Heiress is a 1949 American Drama film directed by William Wyler. She is also the godmother to Riley Sexton, and close friends with actress-cum-director, Hope Fitzgerald.
