Ionic potential is the ratio of electric charge to the radius of an ion. A ratio is an expression which compares quantities relative to each other Electric charge is a fundamental conserved property of some Subatomic particles which determines their Electromagnetic interaction. The ionic radius, r ion is a measure of the size of an Ion in a Crystal lattice. An ion is an Atom or Molecule which has lost or gained one or more Valence electrons giving it a positive or negative electrical charge

As such, the proportion measures the charge density at the surface of the ion; usually the denser the charge, the stronger the bond the ion forms will be. The linear surface or volume charge density is the amount of Electric charge in a line, Surface, or Volume. An ionic bond (or electrovalent bond) is a type of Chemical bond that can often form between Metal and Non-metal Ions (or

Ionic potential gives the sense of how strongly or weakly ion will be electrostatically attracted to ions of opposite charge and to what extent the ion will be repel other ions of like charge.
