There are many quasi-InterHashes which are continental or national and also use "interhash" in their name (e. g. InterAmericas Hash, Africa-InterHash) and but the term InterHash specifically refers to the world InterHash. Attendees vote for bidding Hash kennels to choose where the succeeding InterHash will be held. The InterHash can occur as quickly as 14 months apart or with a gap of more than 2 1/2 years, the only requirement is that the InterHash occur in the even numbered calendar year.

The Down Down contests There have been some variations in recent years, in 2008 (Perth ) "binge drinking" was banned from the venue, so the down down contest was hastily done during the old farts stroll - meaning that many In 2004 (Cardif), the competition was done without published announcement, off stage, with a similar missing out by some interested participants and spectators.
