Personal life

Douglas was born Illeana Hesselberg in Quincy, Massachusetts, the daughter of Joan (née Georgescu) and Gregory Hesselberg (aka Douglas). Quincy is a city in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. [1] Her paternal grandparents were Rosalind Hightower and actor Melvyn Douglas, and her paternal step-grandmother was actress and politician Helen Gahagan. Melvyn Edouard Hesselberg ( April 5, 1901 – August 4, 1981) better known as Melvyn Douglas, was an American actor Helen Gahagan ( November 25, 1900 – June 28, 1980) was an American actress and (under the name Helen Gahagan [2] Her mother is Romanian American. After a long relationship with Martin Scorsese, Douglas married Jonathan Axelrod, son of Hollywood producer George Axelrod in 1998. George Axelrod ( June 9, 1922 - June 21, 2003) was an American Screenwriter, producer, Playwright They divorced three years later.

Career

Acting since she was a child in Connecticut from the age of 10, Douglas studied at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre is an Actor training school in New York City, generally associated with the Meisner technique of Sanford [5] She is known for her part in Martin Scorsese's Cape Fear (1991), her role as singer/songwriter Denise Waverly in Allison Anders' Grace of My Heart (1996), and her roles in To Die For (1995) and Ghost World (2001).
