In 1998, Haug was invited by singer-songwriter Grant McLennan to form the group Far Out Corporation as a side project. Grant William McLennan ( 12 February, 1958 &ndash 6 May, 2006) was an Australian Singer-songwriter with the Alternative Far Out Corporation was a band led by late singer-guitarist Grant McLennan, mostly known as a singer songwriter and guitarist for Australian rock group The Go-Betweens The band recorded one album FOC that year. FOC is the debut (and only album released by Australian collaborative rock group Far Out Corporation in 1998 After McLennan died in 2006, Triple J held an all night tribute concert at which Haug played the entire concert. The Predators

In 2004, Powderfinger decided to take some time off to allow the band members to begin families and pursue side projects. In this downtime Haug formed a band with the original Powderfinger lineup of drummer/vocalist Steven Bishop and bassist John Collins. Steven Bishop (born in Australia, on 1970-03-03) is an Australian drummer formerly of Australian band Powderfinger though he left the band before their John Collins is an Australian bass player known for his work as a member of Australian band Powderfinger. The band was named The Predators, and like the other side projects for Powderfinger was signed to the record label Dew Process. The Predators are a side-project Australian rock band based in Brisbane Dew Process is an Australian Independent record label based in Brisbane Queensland founded by Paul Piticco. The Predators released a six track EP in 2006 and were joined live by drummer Ross McLennan. Ross McLennan is an Australian Drummer, best known as a member of Australian rock band The Predators.

In 2007, Haug reunited with Powderfinger to record their sixth studio album Dream Days at the Hotel Existence. Dream Days at the Hotel Existence is the sixth Studio album by Australian rock band Powderfinger, released by Universal Records
