History
Hudson was first settled about 1800. In 1824 it became a plantation, and was named "Jackson", probably after Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson (March 15 1767 June 8 1845 was the seventh President of the United States (1829&ndash1837 In 1825, however it was incorporated as the town of "Kirkland". The name was changed to "Hudson" in 1854.
Ephriam Braley, a lumberman and folk singer from Hudson, composed the song "Canaday-I-O" about 1854, which became popular in American lumber camps. [1]
