Hotel Lights is an American rock band founded by songwriter Darren Jessee formerly of Ben Folds Five. The United States of America —commonly referred to as the Darren Jessee (born 8 April 1971, Houston, Texas) was the Drummer for the rock group Ben Folds Five. Ben Folds Five was a piano-based rock trio formed in 1993 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.

Band history
Jessee is joined by drummer Zeke Hutchins, bassist Roger Gupton, and keyboardist Chris Badger. They recorded their self-titled debut at Sound of Music studios in Virginia with guitarist and producer Alan Weatherhead of Sparklehorse. Sparklehorse is a United States Rock music group led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Linkous, who records much of Sparklehorse's material in his home Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne lent his talents in arrangements. Adam Schlesinger (born October 31 1967 is a American Songwriter, Composer and Record producer. Fountains of Wayne is an American Power pop rock band formed in 1996 and known for such singles as "Radiation Vibe" and " Stacy's Mom A six-song EP titled "Goodnightgoodmorning" was recorded and released later that year. A new Hotel Lights album titled "Firecracker People" is due out August 19th 2008 on Bar/None Records.

Hotel Lights songs have been used in the Television shows Greys Anatomy and One Tree Hill. Grey’s Anatomy is an American Primetime television medical drama. The song "Miles Behind Me" is in the Movie Baby Mama (film) featuring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. Baby Mama is a 2008 Comedy film from Universal Pictures written and directed by Michael McCullers and starring Tina Fey
