The show was formerly hosted by Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O. Kyle Sandilands (born 10 June 1971) is an Australian Radio host, best known for hosting with Jackie O, Australia's biggest interactive Jacqueline Ellen Last O'Neil Henderson, better known as Jackie O, (born January 31, 1975) is an Australian commercial Radio host, Before then, it was originally hosted by Ugly Phil and Jackie O. Ugly Phil (born Phillip Surridge on 14 March 1960 is a radio DJ / Announcer. Sandilands and Jackie O moved to drivetime on the Austereo Network in 2004, in which Labrat and Alexis (from MMM Adelaide) were hired to host. The Austereo Radio Network is a national commercial radio network in Australia. Labrat eventually left, and was replaced by Higgo.

Upon Alexis moving to SAFM and Higgo to Fox FM in 2005, Craig "Lowie" Low took over the program. SAFM (call sign 5SSA) is a commercial FM Radio station in Adelaide, Australia primarily targeted at those in the 16-35 age group Lowie stepped down in November 2006, with Sam Mac as the new host. Sam " Sam Mac' " McMillan' is an Australian Radio and Television personality This was however only temporary and Tim Lee now anchors the show. The current Hot30 Countdown team is made up of Jason "Web Guy" Ilagan, Angus "Gusta Busta" Kell and Dan "Audioboz" Bozykowski.

Format

Throughout the show, as the name suggests, thirty songs are played which have been voted for by listeners either via phone, SMS or online. The songs are played in the order as voted on during the previous day. During the early-mid-2000s, numbers 10-8 were remixed together by DJ KCB. At the end of the show, one voter is given a prize. The show also features numerous other segments including new music previews, interviews and competitions.
