A home business (or "home-based business" or "HBB") is a small business that operates from the business owner's home office.

In addition to location, home businesses are usually defined by:

• Having a very small number of employees, usually all immediate family of the business owner, in which case it is also a family business. Employment is a Contract between two parties, one being the employer and the other being the employee. Family denotes a group of People affiliated by consanguinity affinity or co-residence A family business is a business in which one or more members of one or more families have a significant ownership interest and significant commitments toward the business’ overall well-being
• Lacking a shop frontage, customer parking and street advertising signs. Advertising is a form of Communication that typically attempts to persuade potential Customers to Purchase or to consume more of a particular Brand

Some examples of companies started as home-based business are: Microsoft, Disney, Apple, Xerox. Microsoft Corporation is an American multinational Computer technology Corporation, which rose to dominate the Home computer Apple Inc, ( formerly Apple Computer Inc, is an American Multinational corporation with a focus on designing and manufacturing Consumer electronics Xerox Corporation ( (name ˈziːrɒks is a global document management company which manufactures and sells a range of color and black-and-white printers, multifunction Some home based business utilize the internet. The Internet is a global system of interconnected Computer networks Examples of these include internet site building, search engine optimization and tailor made travel services.
