The Helmeted gecko (Tarentola chazaliae) is a member of the gecko family native to the west coast of Africa. Geckos are small to average sized Lizards belonging to the family Gekkonidae which are found in warm climates throughout the world
The size of the adult helmeted gecko is about 4 inches (10 cm). The environment they live in is sandy and rocky desert with sparse vegetation. A desert is a Landscape or region that receives very little precipitation. The gecko is mainly nocturnal. As an Animal behavior, nocturnality describes sleeping during the Daytime and being active at Night - the opposite of the diurnal Helmeted geckos require a humid environment.
Helmeted gecko colors can be anywhere from light grey to dark brown. The underside of the gecko is light-colored.
Helmeted geckos are the first vertebrates to be found to see color in very low levels of light.
