The releases with version numbers below 3. 0 were known as MySQL-Front until 2. 5. The name has been switched in 2006 to HeidiSQL, as Ansgar Becker took his old sources and put them into a new open-source-project at SourceForge in April 2006. SourceForgenet is a Source code repository. It acts as a centralized location for software developers to control and manage open source software development
There was also a shareware-application called "MySQL-Front 3. 0", which was developed by another developer from 2004 to 2006 and had a complete new codebase.
The team around HeidiSQL currently consists of 3 developers. The team-members are working on HeidiSQL in their spare time. The members are spread over different countries: Germany, Denmark and Brazil.
