Harriet G. Eddy Middle School is a middle school in Elk Grove, California. Middle school or Junior High School serves as a "bridge" between the Elementary School and the High School Elk Grove is a City in Sacramento County California, located just south of the state capital of Sacramento It was named a national Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education in 2000. The Blue Ribbon Schools Program is a United States government program created to honor schools The United States Department of Education (also referred to as ED, for Education Department is a Cabinet -level department of the United States [1]
Elk Grove's fourth middle school opened in the fall of 1994 as the feeder school for Laguna Creek High School. Laguna Creek High School is a 9th - 12th grade High school located in Elk Grove California, a large suburban community that lies near Sacramento California The school is named for a legendary principal of Elk Grove Union High School who served from 1907 to 1909. A dynamic woman who got the high school accredited with the formation of the first rural library in California, Miss Eddy went on to create county libraries in 40 of the 58 counties of the state as well as in other countries, notably the Soviet Union.
Pepper Spray Incident On April 16, 2007, at about 11:45, Harriet Eddy Middle School was evacuated due to several students reporting that they had experienced irritation to the skin and eyes. The fire department responded and determined that the irritation was caused by the release of pepper spray in the gym area and an art classroom. A total of about 80 students and two teachers were checked out by medics at the school. Students were returned back to class at about 1:30 p. m. to resume normal school activities. Elk Grove Unified Police arrested two students on suspicion of discharge and possession of pepper spray.
