Born in Montreal, Greenberg began working in a second-hand camera store when he was thirteen. Montreal, or Montréal in French ( pronounced in French, in English) is the largest city in the Canadian province of Quebec He set up his own film and photography company and made a fortune by obtaining the exclusive rights to footage from Expo 67 in Montreal. The 1967 International and Universal Exposition, or Expo 67 as it was commonly known was the World's Fair held in Montreal, Canada from April 27 to October In 1973 he acquired Astral Communications and it became one of the leading film production companies in Canada, producing such films as Porky's, the most successful Canadian film ever and the critically acclaimed The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz. Porky's is a Comedy film about the escapades of teenagers at the fictional Angel Beach high school in Florida in 1954. In the 1980s Greenberg became heavily involved in pay TV and started The Movie Network and other pay per view channels. The 1980s was the decade spanning from January 1 1980 to December 31 1989. Greenberg died in 1996 and his brother Ian Greenberg took Harold's place as head of Astral.
