The community has its own newspaper, the Shopper-News, more commonly referred to as the Halls Shopper. The late Charlie Roberts founded the newspaper in the late 1960s, until Sandra Clark bought the newspaper in 1971 prior to a successful run for the state legislature. E.W. Scripps bought the newspaper in November 2005. The EW Scripps Company ( is an American Media conglomerate founded by Edward W Clark remains as publisher; Jake Mabe is managing editor and a columnist.
