Guitar Player is a popular magazine for guitarists. A guitarist is a Musician who plays the Guitar. Guitarists may perform solo pieces or play with ensembles and bands of a wide variety of genres It contains articles, interviews, reviews and lessons of an eclectic collection of artists, genres and products. It has been in print since the late 1960s and is currently edited by Michael Molenda. The 1960s decade refers to the years from the beginning of 1960 to the end of 1969 Guitar Player is a part of the Music Player Network.
A typical issue of Guitar Player includes in-depth artist features, extensive lessons, gear and music reviews, letters to the magazine, and various front-of-book articles. Readers have often expressed their appreciation of Guitar Player's policy of featuring many styles of guitarists, as opposed to other magazines, typically dominated by rock music (much because the guitar per se has become very associated, or almost inherent, to rock). It has been published since 1967, and so will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2007 — an event that will be reflected in the contents of that year’s issues.
In May of 2006 the Music Player Network partnered with TrueFire TV to launch an internet-based television station for guitarists. It provides content similar to that of the magazine such as interviews and lessons. Guitar Player TV is provided at no cost to the user due to advertising and sponsorship. [1]
