Guayllabamba (Quechua for green plain) is a small agricultural town (administratively, a rural parish of the canton of Quito) located 29 kilometers northeast of the city of Quito in northern Ecuador. Quechua ( Runa Simi) is a Native American language of South America. Quito, officially called Metropolitan District of Quito (Distrito Metropolitano de Quito is a canton in Pichincha, Ecuador. In the Ecuadorian national census of November 24, 2001, the parish had a population of 12,227 [1].

The Zoológico de Quito (Quito Zoo), which was originally in the Benalcázar parish of the city of Quito, was moved in 1997 to the southwest of the parish, and has been operated since 1999 by the Fundación Zoológica del Ecuador. Benalcázar is an urban Parish in the northeastern part of the City of Quito, capital of Ecuador. The zoo is the largest zoo in Ecuador.
