The novel series was published in hardback by Kaiseisha as children's literature but has many adult fans. Shinchosha started its publication in bunko size in March 2007. The Tabibito series takes place in the same world with common characters, but with a different protagonist. The two series merge in the final book, Ten to Chi no Moribito.
