Gruffudd Gryg (fl. c. 1340–1380) was a Welsh poet from Anglesey, North Wales. Welsh ( cy Cymraeg or cy y Gymraeg, kəmˈrɑːɨɡ and {{IPA|[ə ɡəmˈrɑːɨɡ]}}, is a member of the Brythonic branch of Celtic History There are numerous Megalithic monuments and Menhirs present on Anglesey testifying to the presence of mankind in prehistory
A number of Gruffud's poems have survived including poems to a wave during his pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela and to an April moon. Santiago de Compostela (also Saint James of Compostela is the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia and a UNESCO World Also extant are the debate poems between Gruffudd and his contemporary poet and friend Dafydd ap Gwilym. Dafydd ap Gwilym (c 1315/1320 &ndash c 1350/1370 is generally regarded as the greatest Welsh poet of all time and amongst the great poets of Europe in the Middle Ages He also composed two elegies for Dafydd ap Gwilym.
