Greenside is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. The suburbs of Johannesburg are officially demarcated areas within the city of Johannesburg, South Africa. Johannesburg ( Pronounced /jō-hān'ĭs-bûrg'/ is the largest city in South Africa. The Republic of South Africa (also known by other official names) is a country located at the southern tip of the continent of Africa Greenside was innitialy a farm founded by the gheldenhuis brothers. Greenside's name is considered to be Scottish in origin, and refers to the adjacent Parkview Golf Course. Scotland ( Gaelic: Alba) is a Country in northwest Europethat occupies the northern third of the island of Great Britain. Most of the roads in Greenside were named after golf courses or professional golfers. In particular, Leitch Road was named after the Scottish golfer Charlotte Cecilia Pitcairn Leitch. Charlotte Cecilia Pitcairn Leitch ( 13 April 1891 &ndash 16 September 1977) was a British Golf champion

Greenside has recently become a restaurant center with about a dozen high-end restaurants, giving it a similar atmosphere to Parkhurst and Melville. A restaurant is a retail establishment that serves prepared Food to Customers. Parkhurst is a small but dense northern Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa. Melville is a bohemian suburb of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. Greenside High School (Top Public School in Gauteng 2007) is situated in the suburb.

Greenside shares its borders with the suburbs of Emmarentia, Parkview, Parkhurst and Victory Park. Emmarentia (which usually encompases Emmarentia Ridge and Emmarentia Ext Parkhurst is a small but dense northern Johannesburg, Gauteng Province, South Africa.
