In the 1930's dancing legend, Gene Kelly, was the choreographer for the Johnstown High School Musicals.
It is the largest public school in the Johnstown Area Public School System with 774 students currently enrolled in grades 9 through 12. The school is broken up into 5 academies that all have state of the art equipment. The five academies are Freshman Success Academy, Arts and Communications Academy, Health and Human Services Academy, Business Academy, and Engineering Manufacturing Technology Academy.
Johnstown participates in high school athletics as a member of the Laurel Highlands Athletics Conference (LHAC) and the school has won many LHAC titles. Johnstown's most recent moment of glory was appearing in the 2005 PIAA State Class AAA Boy Basketball title game before falling to Steelton-Highspire High School.
