Great Bourton has a pub, The Bell, a village hall (which used to be the Methodist Chapel) and a church, All Saints, built in 1863. The bell tower of All Saints is detached from the church and above the lych gate. During the Battle of Cropredy Bridge in 1644, the Parliamentarian army led by General Waller, saw that the royalist army were strung out from their position on the higher ground near to Great Bourton and took the decision to attack. The Battle of Cropredy Bridge was a battle of the English Civil Wars fought on 29 June 1644 between a Parliamentarian army under The Parliament of England was the Legislature of the Kingdom of England. Waller's forces were pushed back to Great Bourton when they met the Earl of Northampton's brigade of horses.
