History

The first recorded white settlement in what would become the city of Grapevine occurred in the late 1840s and early 1850s. Growth during the 19th century was slow but steady; by 1890 the town had about 800 residents, along with such amenities as a newspaper, a public school, several cotton gins, a post office and a railroad.
