The Grand Forks Amtrak station is a train station in western Grand Forks, North Dakota served by Amtrak, the national railroad passenger system. Grand Forks is the third-largest city in the US state of North Dakota and the County seat of Grand Forks County. The National Railroad Passenger Corporation, Doing business as Amtrak, is a Government-owned corporation that was organized on May 1, 1971
It is located at a railroad wye where Amtrak trains turn south. The station was built by Amtrak in 1982, replacing the use of a Great Northern station downtown and allowing Amtrak to serve the city without having to go downtown and then back up. For a while before the station officially opened, trains stopped here and passengers were bussed to/from the old station. [1]
