Goychay (Göyçay) is the capital of Goychay rayon, Azerbaijan. Goychay may refer to Goychay Rayon, Azerbaijan Goychay (city, Azerbaijan ||-||} Azerbaijan is divided into 59 Districts ( rayonlar; sing Azerbaijan ( English; Azərbaycan officially the Republic of Azerbaijan (Azərbaycan Respublikası is the largest and most populous country in the South As of December 2004 the urban population was 35,344^[1]

Concerted settlement dates back to the late 1850's following the devastating 1859 earthquake in Shemakha, though the town was only officially incorporated as such in 1916^[2].
