Goundamani gained entry into the Tamil film industry Kollywood due to his strong theatrical background. Film career

Goundamani has entertained two generations of Tamil people with his unique style of comedy. His dialogues are woven with sarcasm and contempt. His dialogue delivery is perfect and is accompanied with impeccable body language. His most famous piece of comedy is the "Vazhaipazham" (Banana) joke with Senthil, in the film Karagaatakkaran. He is a household name in Tamil Nadu; his jokes cater to every age-group and class of audience. Tamil Nadu ( Tamil:, Country of the Tamils, t̪ɐmɨɻ n̪aːɽɯ is one of the 28 states of India.

He has also been the protagonist in movies such as Raja Enga Raja and Pirandhaen Valarndhaen. These movies turned out to be good family entertainers and comedies. He acted as Hero in 10 films.
