In enzymology, a glutamine-scyllo-inositol transaminase (EC 2.6.1.50) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction

L-glutamine + 2,4,6/3,5-pentahydroxycyclohexanone \rightleftharpoons 2-oxoglutaramate + 1-amino-1-deoxy-scyllo-inositol

Thus, the two substrates of this enzyme are L-glutamine and 2,4,6/3,5-pentahydroxycyclohexanone, whereas its two products are 2-oxoglutaramate and 1-amino-1-deoxy-scyllo-inositol. Enzymes are Biomolecules that catalyze ( ie increase the rates of Chemical reactions Almost all enzymes are Proteins This article is about the Enzyme Commission codes For the European Commission system for coding chemicals see EC-No. Enzymes are Biomolecules that catalyze ( ie increase the rates of Chemical reactions Almost all enzymes are Proteins Catalysis is the process in which the rate of a Chemical reaction is increased by means of a Chemical substance known as a catalyst A chemical reaction is a process that always results in the interconversion of Chemical substances The substance or substances initially involved in a chemical reaction are called Glutamine (abbreviated as Gln or Q; the abbreviation Glx or Z represents either glutamate or Glutamic acid) is one of the 20 A product is a substance that forms as a result of a Biological - or Chemical reaction.

This enzyme belongs to the family of transferases, specifically the transaminases, which transfer nitrogenous groups. In Biochemistry, a transferase is an Enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of a Functional group (e In Biochemistry, a transaminase or an aminotransferase is an Enzyme that Catalyzes a type of reaction between an Amino acid and an The systematic name of this enzyme class is L-glutamine:2,4,6/3,5-pentahydroxycyclohexanone aminotransferase. Other names in common use include glutamine scyllo-inosose aminotransferase, L-glutamine-keto-scyllo-inositol aminotransferase, glutamine-scyllo-inosose transaminase, and L-glutamine-scyllo-inosose transaminase. It employs one cofactor, pyridoxal phosphate. A cofactor is a non-protein Chemical compound that is bound (either tightly or loosely to an Enzyme and is required for Catalysis.
