Glen Lyon (Gaelic Gleann Lìomhann) is a glen in the Perth and Kinross region of Scotland. Perth and Kinross ( Peairt agus Ceann Rois in Gaelic) is one of 32 unitary council areas in Scotland, and a Lieutenancy Area. Scotland ( Gaelic: Alba) is a Country in northwest Europethat occupies the northern third of the island of Great Britain. It is the longest enclosed glen in Scotland and runs for 34 miles from Loch Lyon in the west to the village of Fortingall in the east. Loch Lyon ( Scottish Gaelic, Loch Liobhunn / Loch Lìomhann) is a freshwater Loch found in Glen Lyon, located in Perth, Fortingall is a small village in highland Perthshire, Scotland, in the glen (or valley of the River Lyon.

It was the home to the Campbells of Glen Lyon, who were responsible for the infamous Glencoe Massacre, although in their defence they had been raided the previous winter by the McDonalds of Glencoe and left reliant on the good grace of their neighbour, John Campbell, Earl of Breadalbane, who some believe was actually behind the massacre. The Massacre of Glencoe occurred in Glen Coe, Scotland, in the early morning of 13 February 1692, during the era of the "Glorious John Campbell 1st Earl of Breadalbane and Holland (1636&ndash 19 March 1717) son of Sir John Campbell of Glen Orchy, and of the Lady Mary Graham daughter
