Glen Garioch (pronounced "Geery"), is one of the oldest whisky distilleries in Scotland, dating back to 1785. Scotch whisky is Whisky made in Scotland. It is operated by Morrison Bowmore Distillers, which is owned by the Japanese company, Suntory. is a Japanese brewing and distilling company Established in 1899 it is one of the oldest companies in the distribution of Alcoholic beverages in Japan The distillery was mothballed in 1995, but reopened in 1997. Glen Garioch is a small distillery, situated in the Aberdeenshire village of Old Meldrum. Aberdeenshire (Siorrachd Obar Dheathain is one of the 32 unitary Council areas in Scotland. Oldmeldrum is a village and parish in Aberdeenshire, not far from Inverurie in north east Scotland. The distillery takes its name from the Valley of the Garioch.
