Glance is an internet-based screen sharing software program produced by Arlington, Massachusetts-based Glance Networks. Technology

Glance is designed as a web-based, cross-platform remote desktop application that utilizes several levels of redundancy to avoid disconnections. The main technologies Glance utilizes are Java and ActiveX[3]; the program automatically chooses which protocol to use based on the needs and capabilities of the host system. ActiveX is a Component object model (COM developed by Microsoft for Windows.

In addition to working within Windows and Linux environments, Glance has garnered much praise for its functionality with Mac OS-based systems[4]

It should be noted that Glance is intended for use as a screen sharing program, and not for remote access, as users must be present on both the host and target computers. Web conferencing is used to conduct live Meetings or Presentations over the Internet. During a session, however, either party can take control of the mouse.
