The German Navy is part of the German armed forces (Bundeswehr), and is deeply integrated into the NATO alliance. Operations
German war ships permanently participate in all four NATO Maritime Groups. The German Navy is also engaged in operations against international terrorism such as Operation Enduring Freedom and NATO Operation Active Endeavour. Organization
The German Navy is commanded by the Chief of the Naval Staff in the Federal Ministry of Defence in Bonn.
