The Georgian Triangle is the name of the geographic region containing the counties surrounding the Georgian Bay, mostly Nottawasaga Bay, in particular. Georgian Bay (French baie Georgienne) is a large bay of Lake Huron, located in Ontario, Canada. Nottawasaga Bay is a Bay of Lake Huron in Ontario, at the southernmost end of Georgian Bay. The main city in the region is Collingwood, but it is a short distance from its larger neighbours, Owen Sound and Barrie. Collingwood is a town in Simcoe County, Ontario. Geographically it is situated on Nottawasaga Bay at the southern point of Georgian Bay Recreation and tourism are important parts of this area's economy.
The area is actually a sub-region of two other regions in Ontario, Southwestern Ontario in the western half and Central Ontario in the eastern half. Southwestern Ontario is a region of the Canadian province of Ontario, centred on the city of London. Central Ontario is the portion of the Canadian province of Ontario which lies between Georgian Bay and the eastern end of Lake Ontario. It also forms the western part of what is known as "cottage country" in Ontario, with many seasonal properties; however, in this area most are lived in year-round.
