Early life and career
George Jameson Johnston was born on 24 October 1868 in Melbourne. After the war Johnston resumed his pre-war position as director of Johnston's Pty Ltd. He commanded the 3rd Division from 1922 to 1927 and was promoted to major general on 1 October 1923.
