Born in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, Grizzard appeared in more than forty films and dozens of television programs. Roanoke Rapids is a city in Halifax County, North Carolina, United States.
Grizzard appeared in Advise and Consent in 1962, and guest-starred several times on the NBC television drama Law & Order as defense attorney Arthur Gold.
