Dr George Daniels MBE, DSc, FSA (born 1926) is an English watchmaker who is famous for creating the co-axial escapement. A watchmaker is an Artisan who makes and repairs Watches A modern watchmaker is more likely to repair a wristwatch or a pocketwatch than to actually create a watch Co-axial escapement is a type of modern watch Escapement mechanism invented by English watchmaker George Daniels. This has been used by Omega in their highest grade watches since 1999. Omega SA is a high-end Watch company based in Biel / Bienne Switzerland. He is one of the few living watchmakers who can create a complete watch by hand; including the case and dial. He is a former Master of the Clockmakers' Company of London and has been awarded their Gold Medal, a rare honour. The Worshipful Company of Clockmakers is one of the Livery Companies of the City of London.
