Munster was the son of Major the Hon. Harold Edward FitzClarence, seventh son of William FitzClarence, 2nd Earl of Munster. William FitzClarence, 2nd Earl of Munster, ( 19 May 1824 - 30 April 1901) was an English aristocrat and the grandson of His great-grandfather George Augustus Frederick FitzClarence, 1st Earl of Munster, was the eldest illegitimate son of King William IV by his mistress Dorothy Jordan.
