He is probably best remembered for creating Thames Television's The Bill. Thames Television was a licencee of the British ITV television network covering London and parts of the surrounding counties The Bill is a long-running British Television Police procedural, named after a slang term for the police. Prior to this he had created Give us a Break and Big Deal, both for the BBC.
