Gebr. Klingspor was a hotmetal type foundry established in 1906 out of the Rudhard'sche Giesserei in Offenbach am Main. A type foundry is a Company that designs and/or distributes Typefaces Originally type foundries manufactured and sold metal and wood typefaces and Offenbach am Main is a city in Hesse, Germany located on southside of the river Main. Headed by Dr. Karl Klingspor and Gustav Wilhelm Klingspor. Famous type designers like Rudolf Koch, Walter Tiemann and Otto Eckmann worked for this foundry and created well known typefaces like Koch Antiqua, Wilhelm Klingspor, Tiemann Antiqua, Eckmann. Rudolf Koch ( November 20, 1876 - April 9, 1934) was a leading German Calligrapher, typographic artist and Otto Eckmann ( November 19, 1865 - June 11, 1902) was a German painter and graphic artist Many original designs can be seen in the Klingspor Museum in Offenbach. The right of the typefaces was transmitted to D. Stempel AG, Frankfurt am Main which than had been transferred to Linotype.
