Garry Schofield OBE (born Hunslet, Leeds) is an English former rugby league footballer. Within a year of entering the professional game with Hull FC, Schofield was a full British lion, making his debut as an 18-year-old on the 1984 tour of Australia. Hull FC is a professional Rugby league football club formed in 1865 and based in Hull, East Yorkshire, England. Great Britain was traditionally one of the major national teams playing Rugby league. In 1985 Schofield re-wrote the record books by scoring four tries as Great Britain beat New Zealand in a test series at Central Park, Wigan. A try is the major way of scoring points in Rugby league and Rugby union. The New Zealand national rugby league side represents New Zealand in the sport of Rugby league. Central Park was a multi-use Stadium in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England, one of the most famous stadiums in Rugby league.
After spending 1986 playing in Australia for the Balmain Tigers and gaining the rare distinction for a British footballer of becoming the season's top try-scorer, Schofield moved from Hull FC to his home town club Leeds in 1987. The Balmain Tigers (also known as the Sydney Tigers from 1995-96 were one of the founding rugby league football clubs of the New South Wales Rugby League premiership Leeds Rhinos, or informally Leeds or Rhinos, are an English professional Rugby league football club based in Leeds In 1990, as vice-captain, he was outstanding in Great Britain's series triumph in New Zealand and then in the famous victory over Australia at Wembley. Wembley is an area located in North-West London, England which forms the northern part of the London Borough of Brent. At the time of his retirement he was the most capped Great Britain player of all time.
Schofield joined Huddersfield in 1996, and retired in 1998 after spending the season at Bramley. Huddersfield Giants are a professional Rugby league club (from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire) who play in the Super League. Bramley Buffaloes is a Rugby league club from the Bramley area of West Leeds in West Yorkshire, England.

He can currently be seen on the BBC's Super League show and can be heard as an expert on BBC Radio Leeds.
