Born in Ballymoney, Kane joined the Royal Ulster Constabulary in 1974. Ballymoney ( is a small Town in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The Royal Ulster Constabulary GC was the name of the Police force in Northern Ireland from 1922 to 2001 He joined the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), and was elected to Moyle District Council in 1985, serving as its Chair in 1990 and 1996. The Democratic Unionist Party ( DUP) is the larger of the two main unionist political parties in Northern Ireland. Moyle District Council is a Local Council in County Antrim in the north-east corner of Northern Ireland. He was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly, representing North Antrim at the 1998 election. The Northern Ireland Assembly ( Irish: Tionól Thuaisceart Éireann, Ulster Scots: Norlin Airlann Semmlie) is the devolved North Antrim is a constituency in the Northern Ireland Assembly. The first elections to the Northern Ireland Assembly were held on June 25, 1998. [1]

Kane was accused of indecently assaulting a former council worker in October 2002. He left the DUP soon afterwards, citing ill health,[2] and stood down from his council seat soon afterwards, prompting a by-election. Kane contested the Northern Ireland Assembly election, 2003 as an independent, but took only 623 votes and was not elected. The second elections to the Northern Ireland Assembly, which at the time of the elections had been suspended for just over a year were held on Thursday November 26 In Politics, an independent is a Politician who is not Affiliated with any Political party. In 2004, Kane was cleared of the sexual assault charge, but was convicted of common assault. In Criminal law, a common assault is a Crime when the Victim apprehends immediate use of unlawful violence by the Defendant or the Defendant [4]
