George Scott Romney is an American Republican politician and lawyer in the state of Michigan. Michigan ( is a Midwestern state of the United States of America. He sits on the Michigan State University Board of Trustees. Michigan State University ( MSU) is a co-educational public Research university in East Lansing, Michigan USA. A member of the Pratt-Romney family—a well-known political family in Michigan—he is the son of former Michigan Governor George W. Romney and brother of the former Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney. Biography
Romney received his BA in economics from Michigan State in 1966 and graduated from Harvard Law School in 1969. Economics is the social science that studies the production distribution, and consumption of goods and services. Harvard Law School (also known as Harvard Law or HLS) is one of the professional Graduate schools of Harvard University. In 1976, he joined the law firm Honigman Miller Schwartz & Cohn, LLP in Detroit. Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP (Honigman is a Law firm in Michigan. He previously practiced law in New York, and served as president of the Lakeway Corporation in Austin, Texas. He serves as a member of the board of directors of the Compuware Corporation.
He is active in Hospice of Michigan, Convergence Transportation Electronics Association, The Children's Center of Wayne County, the National Conference for Community and Justice, Detroit Area Council of Boy Scouts of America, and New Detroit.
He was formerly married to Ronna Romney, the Republican U. Ronna Romney née Stern (born September 24 1943) is a Michigan Republican politician and Radio talk show host S. Senate Candidate in Michigan in 1996. He has seven children: Kevin, George, Ronna, Mark, Christina, Madison, and Griffin. He also has four grandchildren: Abigail, Nash, Isabella and Adelyn. Romney is currently married to Ellen Rogers.
Political career
In 1998, Romney announced his candidacy for the office of Michigan Attorney General. The Michigan Republican Party is the state affiliate of the national Republican Party in Michigan. Chuck Yob (born February 14, 1937, near Hesperia Michigan) was a Republican National Committee member from the state of Michigan, Romney lost his bid for the nomination, and Smietanka lost in the general election to the Democratic Party candidate, attorney Jennifer Granholm.
