Funtastic was a small software design company that operated in the early 1980s, and should not be confused with Funtastic!, the UK band for children. The 1980s was the decade spanning from January 1 1980 to December 31 1989. Funtastic produced and published games mainly for the Apple II and IBM PC platforms. It operated from the Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania home of founder Dan Illowsky (previously of Datamost) who collaborated with programmer Michael Abrash. Drexel Hill is a Census-designated place in Upper Darby Township, Delaware County Pennsylvania, United States. Datamost was a Software design company based in Chatsworth California that operated in the early 1980s producing games and other software mainly for the Apple Abrash later contributed to id Software's Quake. id Software (ɪd officially is an American computer game developer based in Mesquite, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. Quake is a First-person shooter Computer game that was released by Id Software on June 22, 1996.
