It is set in the valley of the River Fromus, a tributary of the River Alde, approximately Aldeburgh ( IPA /ˈɔlbrə/ is a town in Suffolk, East Anglia, England; it is located on the Alde river at 52° 9' North 1° 36' East The river Alne bounds the village on the south. The River Alne is a tributary of the Warwickshire Avon and has its headwaters to the north of Wootton Wawen. The surrounding land is chiefly arable. The soil becomes partly marshy in the lower grounds. The village is noted for having one of the largest post mills in Suffolk. Its name is recorded in the Domesday Book as Frisetuna and seems to come from Anglo-Saxon Frīsa tūn = "the farmstead of the Frisians"; some of them may have come with the Angles and Saxons.
